📝 VIRTUAL TESTING GUIDELINES

There have been an increasing number of virtual test submissions rejected due to video and paperwork issues. This is a reminder of the key procedures that must be followed to ensure your submission is valid and accepted.

Placard & video:

  • The placard must show the Date of the Test (submission deadline), not the recording date.
  • The placard must be clearly visible in the video. If handwritten, use a Sharpie and large block letters.
  • The month, date, and time of recording must be clearly visible in the video. Make sure the phone does not just show “Swipe up to Unlock.”

Proctor:

  • The proctor must be an impartial authority figure, such as rink management, skating school director, or local official.
  • The proctor may NOT be a coach/choreographer who has worked with the skater, a coach who shares students with the skater’s coach, a training mate, or a parent/guardian.
  • The proctor must be physically present to watch the entire performance, verify it was done in one continuous take at the stated date and time, and complete the affidavit.

💰 BASIC SUPPORT PROGRAM

The SCSF Board has updated the Basic Support Program for skaters who compete in various U.S. Figure Skating tracks. Club members with outstanding achievements in the Well-Balanced (Championship) track, Adult track, National Excel Series, National Solo Dance Series, and National Showcase will receive financial awards. Award amounts will be determined annually by the Board based on available funds in the Hickox Memorial Fund and the number of eligible skaters.

🙌 VOLUNTEER OF THE QUARTER

Crystal Williams

Crystal Williams recently relocated from Anchorage, Alaska to become the current Skating School Director at Yerba Buena Ice Skating Center. Crystal has gone above and beyond to ensure that SCSF members have access to ice time for their performance exhibitions and testing needs. Since arriving, Crystal has fostered a great sense of community within our rink community and proactively works with our board members to ensure continued club success. We are so lucky and grateful to have Crystal as part of our San Francisco skating community! Thank you for all you do!
