Guest Coach Policy
The Skating Club of San Francisco, Inc. sadly says goodbye to its Belmont rink. We can all be proud of the accomplishments and achievements the Club and its skaters and coaches fulfilled during our time at Belmont Iceland. During this transitional year, The Skating Club of San Francisco heartily welcomes and encourages all of their coaches to bring their SCSF skaters to the beautiful Yerba Buena Ice Skating and Bowling Center, for Saturday morning Club Ice sessions. As an incentive to retain our current membership, The Board of The Skating Club of San Francisco grants all current SCSF pros (both YBISC and Belmont Iceland) a free Club membership for the 2016-2017 season.
For non-Yerba Buena staff coaches, there will be no rink fees for teaching Club members on Saturday Club ice sessions. However, due to requirements from the City and County of San Francisco, you will be required to obtain a San Francisco business license and provide an electronic copy to the Club, along with a copy of your insurance certificate naming Yerba Buena Ice Skating and Bowling Center and The Skating Club of San Francisco, Inc., as additional insured. Also, if you haven’t completed Safe Sport training, you’ll need to complete the training (less than 2 hours) for certification. If you have any questions, please consult with your PSA Area 15 Representative, Don Corbiell, for more information.
Starting May 14, SCSF offers new expanded weekly 2 hour Club sessions on Saturday mornings at Yerba Buena Ice Skating & Bowling Center for general skating practice, private lessons, and critiques upon request. These sessions will begin at 5:45 AM and conclude at 7:45 AM through August 31. Please tell your students Club session prices will stay the same at $7.50 per half-hour. If they are using Club Ice fairly regularly, you can purchase a punch card using cash or check. The card gives you twenty 1/2 hour sessions for $125 which works out to $6.25 per half-hour.
Please note a maximum of 25 skaters are allowed on the ice during a half hour Club session. With Belmont closing, we may be reaching the maximum number of skaters so we will be initiating an advance sign-up up process. First priority will be given to Home Club members having scheduled lessons with YB staff coaches, followed by Home Club members having lessons with guest coaches. If space permits, we will then allow Associate and non-members. To avoid skaters being turned away, you should encourage your students to reserve Club ice in advance and provide the Club a listing of your skaters with scheduled lessons.
