Skating Club of San Francisco Collegiate Program

It’s not over! Skating does not end; life does not end, when one is graduating from high school! Many athletes are not done skating. Perhaps they haven’t yet finished what they started, or, they may have altered their goals and have more yet to achieve… But, what about college? It doesn’t have to be one or the other!

The Skating Club of San Francisco, Inc. has a Collegiate Membership offer that is open to all graduating high school skaters who are going on to college and wish to continue skating. Recognizing the importance of continuing education for our seniors, the SCSF will gift a Collegiate Membership to those skaters which are enrolled in and will be attending college/university. This 4-year membership is automatically renewed every year, and allows skaters to continue their skating careers by taking tests, competing in US Figure Skating competitions, and/or coaching students in basic skating rink-sponsored programs. The skater must have been a Home Club member of SCSF for a minimum of 3 years prior to the application, and should be taking a full course load. The skater is required to provide proof of enrollment and attendance at an accredited institution of higher learning.

If interested in our Collegiate membership, you should contact Don Corbiell at membership [at] scsf [dot] org. Once we have the proof of enrollment and attendance, we will put a credit in the skater’s Entryeeze account and you would renew with us as usual, except you would choose the Collegiate membership instead of Home Club Junior. The credit will pay for the membership and then we will register the skater with USFS as a Collegiate member which renews automatically for 4 years total. And that is basically it! After the 4-year term is up, those skaters who wish to continue their association with the SCSF, or skating in general, should look at our new Alumni Membership. This category is for former SCSF Home Club Members (minimum of 3 years) who are no longer competing, but want to maintain an affiliation with SCSF. Alumni members are granted the right to vote in club elections, take part in club functions and/or become a US Figure Skating official. They may also take tests paying the Associate Member rate, so it’s a great way to continue to test, become an official, or simply give back to the sport and community in general.

So, you see, it really is not over! There is much more to do, to learn, and to experience! Don’t cut your experience short! Instead, become a Collegiate Member and keep doing what you love…skating!

Graduating Seniors Program

Several years ago, U.S. Figure Skating launched its Graduating Seniors Program to recognize the achievements of those individuals graduating from high school who continued their training in figure skating while pursuing their academic studies.
