This Basic Support Program (BSP) available to all SCSF Home Club members updates the “Competitors’ Support Policy” previously adopted by the SCSF Board. This Basic Support Program will be published for all SCSF members to view. This BSP covers the following categories:
I. Well-Balanced (Championship Track) Non-Elite, Singles, Dance and Pair Competitions
II. Elite Skaters
III. Adults
IV. National Excel Series
V. National Solo Dance
VI. National Showcase
VII. Synchronized Teams
VIII. Theatre on Ice

I. Well-Balanced (Championship Track) Non-Elite, Singles, Dance and Pair Competitions
- A travel stipend will be provided to skaters who qualify for, and compete in, Sectional and United States Figure Skating Championships, excluding elite skaters who will be covered separately. The amount of the travel stipend will be determined by the overall available money in the support program fund for the year, the number of qualifying skaters, and the location of the competition for that season. The Board will identify and automatically disburse funds to eligible skaters.
- Skaters who win Sectional or United States Figure Skating Championships will be awarded with a Club Membership for the next fiscal year.
- All skaters who qualify for Sectionals Singles, the US Ice Dance Final, or US Pairs Final are eligible for a complimentary SCSF Competition Team warm-up jacket.
II. Elite Skaters
- Elite skaters are defined as those who have competed in one or more elite Junior or Senior International (e.g. ISU Challenger Series or other qualifying International Event), ISU Championship, or qualifying US Championship events in the previous or current competitive season.
- A travel stipend will be provided to skaters who compete in at least one Junior or Senior level qualifying international event. The amount of the travel stipend will be determined by the overall available money in the support program fund for the year, the number of qualifying skaters. The Board will identify and automatically disburse funds to eligible skaters.
- Skaters who win Sectional or United States Figure Skating Championships will be awarded with a Club Membership for the next fiscal year.
III. Adults
- A travel stipend will be provided to skaters who compete in a qualifying Championship event at the U.S. Adult Figure Skating Championships, provided they qualified through the corresponding event at the Sectional Championships with 6 or more competitors. The amount of the travel stipend will be determined by the overall available money in the support program fund for the year, the number of qualifying skaters, the number of championship events the skater qualifies in, and the location of the competition for that season. The Board will identify and automatically disburse funds to eligible skaters.
- Adult skaters who win U.S. Adult Figure Skating Championships in a Championship event having 6 or more skaters will be awarded with a Club Membership for the next fiscal year.
- All Adult skaters who compete at the Adult National Figure Skating Championships in a Championship event are eligible for a complimentary SCSF Adult Skating Team warm-up jacket, regardless of the number of competitors at the corresponding event at the Sectional Championships. If the skater opts out of the jacket, a substitute stipend will be provided.
IV. National Excel Series
- A travel stipend will be provided to skaters who compete in the National Excel Final. The amount of the travel stipend will be determined by the overall available money in the support program fund for the year, the number of qualifying skaters, and the location of the competition for that season. The Board will identify and automatically disburse funds to eligible skaters.
- Skaters who win an event at the National Excel Final in an event having 6 or more skaters will be awarded with a Club Membership for the next fiscal year.
- All skaters who qualify for the National Excel Final are eligible for a complimentary SCSF Competition Team warm-up jacket. Proof of entry will be required.
V. National Solo Dance
- A travel stipend will be provided to skaters who compete in the National Solo Dance Final. The amount of the travel stipend will be determined by the overall available money in the support program fund for the year, the number of qualifying skaters, the number of events the skater qualifies in, and the location of the competition for that season. The Board will identify and automatically disburse funds to eligible skaters.
- Skaters who win a National Solo Dance Final event having 6 or more skaters will be awarded with a Club Membership for the next fiscal year.
- All skaters who qualify for the National Solo Dance Final are eligible for a complimentary SCSF Competition Team warm-up jacket. Proof of entry will be required.
VI. National Showcase
- A travel stipend will be provided to skaters who qualify for, and compete in, the Parade of Champions or the Parade of Adult Champions. The amount of the travel stipend will be determined by the overall available money in the support program fund for the year, the number of qualifying skaters, the number of events the skater qualifies in, and the location of the competition for that season. The Board will identify and automatically disburse funds to eligible skaters.
- If a skater wins the Parade of Champions, they will receive a complimentary year membership with the club for the following season.
VII. Synchronized Skating Teams
- Each non-qualifying Tremors team will receive a percentage of a maximum flat rate of $500 per team.
- Each qualifying-level Tremors team will receive a percentage of a maximum flat rate of $1000 per team.
- Any team advancing to the Synchronized Championships will receive a percentage of a maximum flat rate $500 bonus.
- The percentage will be the same as the percentage of Home Club members on each team respectively. The board will automatically identify and disburse funds to all eligible teams. Receipts are no longer required. All skater and parent memberships must be current before funds can be disbursed.
VIII. Theatre on Ice Teams
- Each non-qualifying SFIT team will receive a percentage of a maximum flat rate of $500 per team.
- Each qualifying-level SFIT team will receive a percentage of a maximum flat rate of $1000 per team.
- Any team qualifying for the Nation’s cup will receive a percentage of a maximum flat rate $500 bonus.
- The percentage will be the same as the percentage of Home Club members on each team respectively. The board will automatically identify and disburse funds to all eligible teams. Receipts are no longer required. All skater and parent memberships must be current before funds can be disbursed.
IX. Determination of Award Amounts and Payment of Awards
All stipends, reimbursements, financial assistance, and financial awards will be paid from the Hickox Memorial Fund. Award amounts will be determined annually by the Board based on available funds and the number of eligible skaters.
